The LPH Yoga Block is made in Germany, the cork for it originates from sustainable cultivation in Portugal, the largest cork producervin the world! The country is responsible for more than 60% of the volume of all exports and has an area of cork oak trees equivalent to a quarter of the world's total. This natural product has been used since ancient times and is still valued for its thermal and acoustic properties. Cork is also very resistant, recyclable and hypoallergenic. While the processing method for cork is very simple, it is harvested by hand and is correspondingly time-consuming.
The work is usually carried out routinely in teams of two at a brisk pace. The detached bark from the cork oak is collected and driven to the collection point. The bark is left there to dry for a year before being processed and cooked. The raw cork product is then ground into granules and shipped to Germany. Here, the cork granulate is pressed into blocks using a vegan, food-safe adhesive that has been tested for harmful substances. Production waste is ground again and added to further pressings so that hardly any waste is produced.
Our supplier's cork products are manufactured here in Germany in accordance with the guidelines of the REACH regulation and are subject to continuous quality controls, which guarantees the highest product quality. Compliance with internationally recognized social and environmental standards is a given, as the production site is here in Germany.
