UPCYCLED
At LOVE PEACE HARMONY™, we want to live to our vision of reducing waste in the cycle of fashion. Towards this aim, when preparing a new range, our design team first look at rescuing left over fabrics from other European brands which would otherwise end up in land fill sites. These surplus materials come from large, certified companies and despite their high quality, still end up as waste. We give preference to natural fibers instead of petroleum-based synthetic fibers to prevent the formation of microplastics during washing. Polyester fibres are only used where absolutely necessary and for virgin raw materials, we prefer to use organic cotton.
European brands have developed a gigantic manufacturing industry in Bangladesh and India in recent decades. This has created an incredible number of jobs and contributed to improving the quality of life for many people. Disasters in the recent past have shone a negative light on the industry. However, instead of turning our backs on these production sites, we would like to create working conditions that enable employees to enjoy the best possible standard of living. Our team monitor production on site and ensure that certain safety and quality standards are met. We also want to support small, local manufacturers who pursue a similar sustainable and holistic approach as LOVE PEACE HARMONY™.
The collaboration with the Indian label HeenaAgrima is one of the many positive examples of this. The two founders of the label of the same named, Heena Sukhani and Agrima Blana, have made it their mission to create local handicrafts with defined standards and regulations in terms of quality and safety and to campaign against child labor. With traditional printing processes, natural dyes and materials made from natural fibers, HeenaAgrima is not only committed to greater sustainability and environmental awareness in relation to our clothing. The moral claim of the two founders is to sensitize customers to more conscious consumption and to live sustainability at all levels. By working together, we are contributing to making our world a little bit more liveable.
