Interwoven spirituality, timeless beauty.
Whether for spiritual guidance, a deeper connection to nature or as an expression of beauty and personality, malas have always been valued as a tool for spiritual practice, meditation and personal growth.
The word mala comes from Sanskrit and refers to a meditation wreath. The mala originates from India and is a prayer chain, comparable to a rosary in the Christian religion. In a Buddhist prayer chain, 108 beads are traditionally strung together, ending with the so-called guru bead. This initial bead indicates when you have passed the chain completely through your fingers.
For our LPH malas, we use sandalwood beads and gemstones in the colors of the respective chakra that the mala is intended to stimulate. Sandalwood is used in aromatherapy to soothe, relieve tension and bring inner peace. The gemstones of the seven chakras, on the other hand, have very different meanings and effects which we explain in more detail in the respective product description.
Each LPH mala, as well as the matching bracelets, is made in a small manufactory in Rishikesh, India, with great care and love to offer you a spiritual journey of balance. Narendra, owner and managing director of the manufactory, is the second generation to run the business. He learned the craftsmanship from his parents, who also run a jewelry store in Haridwar. Since 2023, he has been continuing the family tradition in Rishikesh, which is also known as the gateway to the Himalayas.
The pilgrimage town lies on the banks of the holy river Ganges and is considered the yoga capital of the world - even the Beatles have withdrawn to meditate in the Maharishi Mahesh Yoga Ashram located there. So what better location to create jewelry that is more than just an adornment for its wearer?
